Finally, a young woman, one of these 2 ladies eloped from Sylhet and ran to Kaloroa under Satkhira district to meet her girlfriend who is married to a man over there. Odd as it sounds, that is what happened on Wednesday, on January 3rd. Eloped Mahima Khatun (23) demanded same-sex marriage, went to Brajabaksa Jamal More area of Helatala Union in Satkhira’s Kalwar at around 9:30 pm and threatened to commit suicide if they don’t respond positively.
In such an event, the family of housewife Rubina Khatun (25) of Satkhira’s Kaloroa is in trouble. A police team including an SI has been sent to the spot to deal with the situation. The officer-in-charge (OC) of Kalaroa police station Md. Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter.
According to local sources, Mahima Khatun (23) of Gwainghat area of Sylhet wants to ‘marry’ a housewife named Rubina Khatun (25) of Kalaroa in Satkhira. Currently, Mahima is staying at Rubina’s house in Kalaroa. After the matter became a buzz, a crowd gathered at their house.
Mahima Khatun (23) is the daughter of Munsur Ali of Sylhet Gwainghat area. And Rubina Khatun (25) is the daughter of Anisur Rahman of Brajabaksa Jamal area of Helatala union of Kalaroa upazila of Satkhira and wife of Arman Hossain of Tulsidanga village of Kalaroa town.
In such a situation, the local people have demanded exemplary punishment of the two lesbian women in the incident which goes against the religious teachings and the law of the country as well.
