The open day program was held with the spontaneous participation of young students on the eve of 31st December. It was announced that in the future, a larger open day program will be organized on a specific day of the year.
Bangladesh Open Source Network (BDOSN), Bangladesh Science Popularization Society (SPSB) and Maksudul Alam Science Laboratory (MASLab) jointly organized the last day of the year on December 31, 2023. Students from various schools of the capital participated in the open day program.
Apart from making the robot dance with their own hands, the students had the opportunity to work with the lab equipment and instruments, especially the microscope. Many were excited to be able to drive a robot with their own hands for the first time in their lives.

Tarannum Sultana of the Oxford International School said, ‘She had no idea that even a robot could be controlled by itself.’ She expressed her interest in studying robotics when she grows up. Many of those who attended the open day programs participated in the dance with the robot.
A special workshop on some interesting hands-on science experiments were conducted by MASLab – “Science through play” was announced in this event. Students were mainly taught practical science in this workshop. During the open day program, many of them learned to use the microscope and observed different slides. In addition to showing such various experiments, they were divided into different groups and several hands on experiments were done.
As part of the program, everyone was encouraged to register for the Bangladesh Maths Olympiad, besides informing about participation in the Bangladesh Robot Olympiad, Junior Science Olympiad, Children’s Science Congress. All attendees also got an idea of Scratch programming and climate change.

A parent who was present among them thanked the MASLab for introducing students to a world outside their regular curriculum through such an exceptional event. In the last part of the program there was a special instructional session on the Children’s Research Fund Program. This program has been started from this year to make secondary and higher secondary students of the country who are interested in science research. Through this fund, 6th-12th class students will be able to get necessary support in their own research projects. In this session, how to apply for funds, how to submit a research proposal – all these were explained in detail. Note that funded students will receive equipment, training and allowances for their research projects. Many people who came here and came to know about this fund took various advices from the mentors present at that time.
