Six students involved in ragging at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) have been expelled from the educational program for different periods. At the same time, three more students have been given a verbal warning.
On Tuesday (August 29) morning, the proctor of the university Dr. Mamunur Rashid confirmed the matter. Earlier on Monday (August 28), an order in this regard signed by the university registrar professor Dr. Saifur Rahman was delivered to the students.
According to the registrar’s office, two students have been expelled for two semesters and four students for one semester. They are 22nd batch students of marketing department. On August 24, the accused harassed some fresh students of the first year of the university in the campus and in the area adjacent to the residential hostel. The harassed students complained to the university administration. As evidence of the incident was found in the investigation, action was taken against the accused.
Proctor Mamunur Rashid said, ‘The university administration investigated the ragging complaint seriously. As the complaint has been proved, action has been taken according to the university policy regarding those students. The university administration is working to eradicate ragging.
