South Korean technology giant Samsung has warned the protesters that they will not be paid if they do not work. The company made this announcement in the context of the continuous movement of Samsung India workers demanding recognition of trade unions, increase in wages and ensuring working environment and safety at the workplace.
Not only the salary and allowances, but the agitators may also lose their jobs if they continue the agitation and do not return to work. Reuters reported that this warning was given in an email message.
About one and a half thousand workers are protesting in the ongoing movement. They demanded government intervention to solve the problem.
The employees of Samsung’s Indian branch have been protesting with various demands since September 9. An indefinite strike is also going on. One of their main demands is to recognize their own trade union as a trade union in addition to salary increase.
Samsung has two factories in Delhi and Tamil Nadu in India. More than two thousand workers are currently working in these two places. Among them, about one and a half thousand workers have gone on strike. Such an incident has never happened before in the 16-year history of Samsung in India.
