Global sales of artificial intelligence (AI) enabled personal computers (PCs) accounted for 14 percent of total PC sales in the second quarter of this year, up from 7 percent in the previous quarter. According to a report by market research firm Canalys, sales of Windows AI PCs increased by 127 percent in the April-June quarter of 2024 compared to the previous quarter.
According to a Canalys report, device makers sold 8.8 million AI-enabled PCs globally in the second quarter of this year. Among these, AI computers using Apple’s silicon chipset accounted for 60 percent of sales. Windows PC sales, on the other hand, were slightly less than 40 percent.
While Apple is at the top in terms of sales, other companies like Dell, Lenovo and HP have contributed significantly to the AI PC market.
According to the research institute International Data Corporation (IDC), overall sales of personal computers increased by 3 percent in the second quarter of this year (April-June). During this time, 64.9 million units of computers were sold in the world market.
