North Korea fails to put second spy satellite into orbit due to rocket motor malfunction. The Deputy Director General of North Korea’s National Aerospace Technology Administration gave this information to state media of that country on Monday, May 27. Initially, the official attributed the failure to a fault in the rocket motor.
He told the state media that the launch of the new satellite carrier rocket failed. The rocket exploded in mid-air during the first stage of flight.
Preliminary analysis showed that the rocket motor was not an advanced liquid fuel motor. Apart from this, the officials are trying to find other possible reasons.
Officials in South Korea and Japan reported this failure before North Korea. According to Al Jazeera , South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said North Korea fired an unidentified rocket southward over the Yellow Sea. But minutes later it exploded and fell into the sea.
The same information was reported by Japan’s public broadcaster NHK. “The North Korean rocket did not fly from the area we thought it was supposed to fly through,” a senior Japanese defense ministry official told the channel. Moreover, whether there was any satellite in the rocket launched by Kim Jong Un, we are also looking at the loss.
Before this, on Sunday, May 26th, North Korea announced that it would launch a satellite into space between May 27 and June 4 this year. Pyongyang informed neighboring Japan about this plan. In November last year, North Korea put its first intelligence satellite into orbit in its third attempt.
