The National Museum of Science and Technology as a government institution has acquired the international ISO certification. Based on this achievement of the institution, a seminar on ‘Good Governance and Innovation: Development of Science and Technology’ was held at the Museum on Thursday.
Minister of Science and Technology Architect Yafesh Osman, Senior Secretary Ziaul Hasan (NDC), senior officials of the Ministry, heads of organizations, university professors, leaders of various science and service organizations, teachers of various schools and colleges, students and civil society leaders participated and spoke in the seminar.
The speakers lauded the activities of the organization on the basis of excellence in office management, extraordinary success in visitor services, and creation of science passion among students across the country and extraordinary institutional success in creating innovative thinking among the young generation by obtaining ISO certification. The UK’s renowned ‘AJA Europe Ltd’ has given the ISO 9001:2015 certificate to the science museum through the ‘R&G’ consultant of Bangladesh.
At the beginning of the program, Director General of National Museum of Science and Technology, Mohammad Munir Chowdhury, presented a report mentioning the long journey to achieve ISO certification. In the event, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology Ziaul Hassan (NDC) termed the achievement of the ISO certificate of the Science Museum as a success of the Ministry.
In the event, the Minister of Science and Technology, Architect Yafesh Osman said, “ISO is never thought of in government offices; in this case, this achievement of the Science Museum is incredible. He called for the implementation of ISO in the field of education and said, “This is the golden time to move the country forward, in this the young generation has to play a leading role”.
A documentary on recent developments and innovative activities of the National Museum of Science and Technology was screened on the occasion.
Besides, former Director General of National Science and Technology Museum Swapan Kumar Roy, Vice President of Bangladesh Science Popularization Association Munir Hasan and Brigadier General (retd) Mofizur Rahman also spoke in the seminar.
