Leadership Appointed to Drive Reform
The Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) has announced a two-member Convening Committee for its interim reform council. According to the announcement, Nadim Majid, CEO of Bangla Puzzle Limited, has been appointed as Convenor, while Mohammad Moniruzzaman Munir, Managing Director and CEO of OS IT Solutions Limited, has been named Member Secretary.
The appointments were made during an online general meeting of the BASIS Reform Council held on January 7, under the leadership of council spokesperson Fauzia Nigar Sultana. The responsibilities were allocated in the presence of all committee members.
This information was disclosed in a press release issued on Wednesday.
Nadim Majid, Convenor of the BASIS Reform Council, stated, “Following relentless movements by the BASIS Reform Council, the previous committee of BASIS, known for being an ally of the autocratic Hasina government, was dissolved, and an administrator was appointed by the Ministry of Commerce. Although one of our demands has been met, several agendas, including financial audits and member audits, remain unfulfilled. The BASIS Reform Council will work towards realizing these demands.”
Member Secretary Mohammad Moniruzzaman Munir added, “As per the meeting’s decision, we will gradually include reform-minded members into the council. Additionally, we will continuously support the BASIS EC Committee on issues concerning the interests of its members.”
Currently, BASIS has over 2,600 members across various categories, making it a significant trade body in the ICT sector in Bangladesh.
