Residents of all unions in Gaibandha district can now pay their holding taxes and trade license fees digitally through Nagad, the mobile financial service of the Bangladesh Post Office. The service was officially launched recently.
The initiative allows citizens of Gaibandha’s 81 unions to use their unique IDs to make payments for holding taxes and trade license fees through a seamless digital process.
To support this launch, a training workshop on the digital payment system was held in the conference room of the Gaibandha District Commissioner’s office. The event was inaugurated by Gaibandha District Commissioner Chowdhury Moazzem Ahmed and presided over by Md. Shariful Islam, Deputy Director of Local Government (Deputy Secretary). Additional District Commissioner (Overall) A. K. M. Hedayetul Islam and other officials also attended the session.
During the event, speakers emphasized that the digital service would provide citizens with a faster and more convenient way to pay their fees, eliminating bureaucratic hurdles. They noted that this initiative would enhance customer service, streamline the payment process, and ensure greater transparency and accountability in the operations of union councils.
The digital payment service via Nagad was also formally launched during the session. Representing Nagad, Mohammad Golam Mortaza Milu, Head of Utility, Education, and Government Payments, was present at the event.
