Following Malaysia’s UCSI University, China’s INTI University has expressed its interest in establishing either a branch campus or a full-fledged university in Bangladesh. The proposed institution aims to introduce departments in engineering, modern technology, medicine, climate security, and nursing, catering to the demands of the modern era.
On Wednesday (December 11), a delegation from INTI University presented this proposal during a courtesy meeting with Professor Dr. Mohammad Tanzimuddin Khan, Acting Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC). The meeting was held at the UGC office, with participation from UGC members, including Professor Dr. Md. Saidur Rahman and Secretary Dr. Md. Fakhrul Islam, among other officials.
The INTI University delegation was led by Dr. Mostak Ahmed, Technical Consultant, accompanied by Peng Lan, Vice President and Head of International Affairs of Hope Education Group and INTI University, and Gu Jinhua, Director of International Development at Hope Education Group.
Professor Tanzimuddin Khan stated that the representatives discussed various aspects of the proposed university, including research opportunities, faculty recruitment, and tuition fees. The delegation was asked to submit a detailed proposal, which will be reviewed in accordance with the Private University Act 2010 and the Cross-Border Higher Education Regulations 2014 to determine the necessary support.
Dr. Mostak Ahmed highlighted that Hope Education Group currently operates 27 private universities across countries such as China, Hungary, Belarus, Thailand, Malaysia, Poland, and France. These institutions provide high-quality and affordable education at diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels, with opportunities for joint degrees, advanced research, training, and collaborations with over 500 industries.
He also emphasized Hope Education Group’s initiative to establish an international-standard university, a branch campus, or acquire an existing private university in Bangladesh. This effort aims to provide cost-effective, high-quality education services in the country.
