Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) has withdrawn from the Integrated Admission System of the General, Science, and Technology (GST) cluster entrance exam. However, the Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) will still participate in this integrated exam. As a result, the upcoming entrance exam will be held across 23 universities.
On Saturday (December 7), the JUST Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid, confirmed this information, stating, “This time we have agreed to conduct the cluster admission test. A preliminary discussion took place in a recent meeting. We will finalize everything in an upcoming meeting. We aim to complete the exam and the admission process swiftly by February.”
On the other hand, the Public Relations Department of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology confirmed the withdrawal from the cluster system later that evening. The Vice-Chancellor of SUST, Professor Dr. A. M. Sarwar Uddin Chowdhury, told reporters, “We had a meeting with the Ministry of Education today, and we have decided to withdraw from the cluster admission process. From the next session, we will conduct our own entrance exam for student admissions. We request cooperation from all faculty members, staff, and others involved in the process.”
Dr. A. F. M. Salahuddin, the Deputy Registrar and PS to the Vice-Chancellor, added, “Shahjalal University will no longer be part of the cluster admission system. There is an Academic Council meeting scheduled for December 12, where the university’s admission process and exam distribution will be discussed.”
Meanwhile, the university’s faculty, students, and staff have praised the administration’s decision to withdraw from the cluster admission process.
