Former Managing Director and CEO of Robi Axiata Limited, Mahatab Uddin Ahmed, has applied for the return of important documents from the company. His lawyer, Helal Uddin, informed the media about this on Thursday, December 5.
The application was made in the court of Dhaka’s 1st Joint District and Sessions Judge, Alamgir Al Mamun, on November 26, requesting the return of the documents. The plaintiff opposed the request, but the court granted it. The next hearing is scheduled for February 26.
Mahatab Uddin Ahmed filed a case in August 2022 seeking 227 crore taka in compensation for “retirement benefits and wrongful termination” from Robi Axiata. He named the company’s former CEO, Izaddin Idris, the current board chairman, Thayapran S. Sangara Pillai, and others as defendants.
According to sources, Mahatab Uddin submitted his resignation on August 2, 2021, which was effective from October 31 of that year. Robi’s board accepted his resignation unconditionally on August 5, 2021. However, on May 22, 2022, Robi Axiata issued a termination notice to him. Subsequently, Robi sent him a show-cause notice on October 7, 2021, regarding a financial transaction from 2019, which, according to the plaintiff, was known to both the Axiata Group and the Robi board.
