The ICT Department (ICTD) Officers’ Association temporarily suspended their peaceful sit-in protest, which was set to continue indefinitely from Tuesday morning in front of the ICT Tower in Agargaon. The protest demanded the reinstatement of Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs) for district and upazila-level officers and employees, along with five other demands.
The suspension followed an hour-long meeting between the association and ICT Division Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury. The announcement was communicated in an official statement signed by the association’s president, Md. Abdullah Bin Salam. A copy of the letter was also sent to Deputy Secretary Nahid Islam, the Director General of the ICT Directorate, and the President of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB).
Sources revealed that around 250 field-level officers waited outside during the meeting held in the Secretary’s office. The meeting was attended by ICT Directorate Director General Mohammad Anwar Uddin (Additional Secretary) and Additional Director General S.A.M. Rafiqunnabi (Joint Secretary), alongside the Secretary.
The protest has been paused temporarily as the association awaits further developments on their demands.
