Professor Dr. Mohammad Abu Yusuf, Vice-Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University, Bangladesh (BDU), emphasized the importance of focusing on technology-driven research to stay competitive in today’s technology-oriented world. He shared these insights as the Chief Guest during the closing session of the 2nd International Conference on “Machine Intelligence and Emerging Technologies,” organized by Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) on Saturday, November 9.
In his remarks, Dr. Yusuf stressed the need to foster stronger ties between academia and industry, as technological advancements are difficult to achieve without such collaborations. He noted that conferences like this play a significant role in building a digital Bangladesh, serving as a bridge between academic and industrial sectors. Discussions in the conference covered various aspects of emerging technologies, including machine intelligence, artificial intelligence, data science, and cybersecurity, which he said would inspire further progress in building a technology-driven nation.
Prominent international speakers included renowned researchers such as Professor Nikola Kasabov, Professor Mohammad Slim Alouini, Professor Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaq, Professor Shozo Inoue, and Professor Dr. Mohammad Ali Moni.
The two-day conference, held from November 8–9, was jointly organized by NSTU’s Institute of Information Technology (IIT) and five departments: Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science and Telecommunication Engineering (CSTE), Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), Information and Communication Engineering (ICE), and Statistics. A total of 216 researchers from prestigious institutions across multiple countries presented 46 research papers. The conference featured technical sessions, keynote addresses, and a graduate forum, covering topics like AI and Soft Computing, Smart Sensing and Security, and Imaging and Computer Vision.
