In a recent press conference at the Kahf office in Mirpur, Dhaka, Kahf’s Chief Advocacy Officer Sharif Abu Hayat announced the launch of ‘Kahf Guard’—a DNS service aimed at providing a secure browsing experience by blocking pornography, gambling, malware, and phishing. Additionally, Kahf introduced ‘Mahfil,’ a halal video platform with built-in YouTube restriction mode and an ad engine designed to ensure safe content consumption.
Four more services are set for launch, including Kahf Kids, Kahf Browser, Kahf Internet, and Kahf SIM, which aim to further promote a safe and halal digital experience. Kahf Guard specifically provides protection from over 5 million flagged websites identified as harmful, including sites related to explicit content, scams, phishing, malware, and gambling. Kahf Browser filters content for a halal browsing experience, while Kahf Kids ensures a safe and child-friendly online environment. Kahf Internet and Kahf SIM will offer halal internet services.
Omar Al Zabir, Kahf’s CTO and Co-Founder and a former employee of Meta, explained that his role involved tackling social media issues related to online harm, particularly for younger users. Reflecting on his experience, he emphasized the need for a halal internet to protect future generations from harmful digital content.
Kahf’s CEO and Founder, Nizam, added, “We aim to block all haram content online, introduce halal alternative platforms, and build a comprehensive halal ecosystem. This initiative will undoubtedly open new horizons for Bangladeshi entrepreneurs on the global stage.”
