The Junior Chamber International (JCI) Bangladesh debate team has made history by clinching the prestigious JCI World Debating Championship title at the JCI World Congress 2024. The victory was secured on Friday, November 1st, 2024, during the event held in Taoyuan, Taiwan from October 28th to November 2nd, 2024. JCI Bangladesh team represented Asia Pacific region in the world arena after becoming the champion in the Asia Pacific Debate in June, 2024 held in Siem Reap, Cambodia. This achievement marks the first ever Championship achievement in JCI World Debating for Bangladesh and the second achievement for any Asia Pacific Country after Malaysia’s win in 2018.
The triumphant team comprised JCI Bangladesh National Vice Presidents Samiha Akhter and Zafir Shafiee Chowdhury, along with International Affairs Chairperson Muntasir Mamun.
Expressing her elation, Samiha Akhter stated, “Debating requires extensive research and the ability to present well-structured arguments supported by factual evidence. Our rigorous practice sessions were instrumental in securing this victory.” Zafir Shafiee Chowdhury echoed her sentiments, sharing, “We are overwhelmed to bag this win not only for Bangladesh but also for the entire Asia Pacific. We feel immensely proud to hoist our flag above 100 countries in the world stage”

The JCI World Congress, attended by over 4,000 young leaders from 100 countries, offered a platform for skill development, networking, and international cooperation.
