Advisor to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Md. Nahid Islam, has stated that Bangladesh’s youth are preparing to take on leadership roles in every field, including politics, society, business, and the economy. Additionally, Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, Interim Advisor to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, shared that the government is working to create 500,000 new employment opportunities within the next two years.
These remarks were made by the two advisors, both former coordinators of the students and people’s movement, during an event held at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka on Friday, in celebration of National Youth Day 2024.
In his address, Md. Nahid Islam noted that a generational shift has taken place in Bangladesh, with the youth paving a new way forward. He emphasized that the generation emerging from the July uprising aspires to build a new Bangladesh and is now ready to lead across every sector. “The world is observing our youth with wonder,” he added, “as they have shown a new path to the world through the July uprising. The potential of this youth to elevate Bangladesh is now a point of global anticipation.”
Nahid also remarked that the drive, enthusiasm, and conscientious intent of the youth could lead Bangladesh to a promising future. Reflecting on the July uprising, he said, “It was a fight for either our motherland or death, and we chose to protect our country. This ongoing struggle will ensure that our nation stands tall on the global stage.”
Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, Advisor to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Labor and Employment, stated that youth is the prime of life and a nation’s most valuable resource. As a demographic dividend, the youth holds immense economic potential for the country. He also mentioned that the interim government, through the Department of Youth Development, is equipping young job seekers to become valuable human resources.
Following their remarks, the advisors visited the Youth Fair organized as part of the National Youth Day 2024 celebrations, where 12 successful entrepreneurs and three outstanding youth organizers were honored with the National Youth Award 2024.
The event was chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Rezaul Maksud Jahedi, and attended by the Director General of the Department of Youth Development, Dr. Gazi Md. Saifuzzaman, along with senior officials from the ministry and affiliated agencies.
