Emdadul Haque, Director of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), has been elected unopposed as President of the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Statistics Cadre Association. Ariful Islam, Joint Director of BBS, has been elected as General Secretary.
The newly elected 21-member executive committee, which will serve for two years, includes Akhtar Hossain and Saidur Rahman as Vice Presidents, and Sojan Haider and Jahangir Alam as Joint General Secretaries.
Noyon Kanti Roy has been elected as Organizational Secretary, with Mahbub Alam as Assistant Organizational Secretary. Other posts include Swapan Kumar as Office and Legal Affairs Secretary, Israt Jahan as International Affairs Secretary, Mohammad Kamal Hossain as Publicity and Publication Secretary, and Tanvir Ahmed as Treasurer. Ishraq Muhammad has been elected as Education, Culture, and Research Secretary.
Eight members have been elected as Executive Members: Sarwar Kamal, Rezaul Karim, Abdul Alim, Nazmul Haque, Mahanuma Rahman, Suranjit Kumar Ghosh, Sheikh Anichur Rahman, and Pronab Pal.
The election, held last Saturday, took place in-person at the Statistics Building auditorium in Agargaon, Dhaka, with voters also having the option to cast their votes online. This was the General Election 2024 for the BCS Statistics Cadre Association.
