The Ministry of Education in Bangladesh has announced that private schools, school and colleges, lower secondary, and attached primary levels will complete their student selection and admission process for the upcoming academic year through a digital lottery. Admissions will be open for entry-level classes and, based on available seats, up to Class 9. The new academic session will run from January 1 to December 31, with a maximum of 55 students per section.
Schools in Dhaka under MPO status may charge a maximum admission fee of 5,000 BDT, while partially MPO-listed institutions can charge up to 8,000 BDT. Admission fees for English version sections are capped at 10,000 BDT. The development fee in Dhaka-based institutions is limited to 3,000 BDT, and session charges may be collected annually after passing final exams, although re-admission fees are not allowed.
The admission policy, released by the Ministry on October 28, specifies that children over 6 years of age, as per the National Education Policy 2010, are eligible for admission. For the 2025 academic year, students must be between 5 and 7 years old on January 1 and December 31, respectively. The minimum birthdate should be January 1, 2020, and the maximum should be December 31, 2017. Applicants must provide an authenticated copy of their digital birth certificate.
Additionally, students with special needs may receive up to a 5-year age allowance. The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) will determine the date, time, and application fees for the centrally organized digital lottery process.
