Instant messaging app Imo has blocked 628,000 accounts in Bangladesh between January and September this year for violating community guidelines. This announcement was made during Cybersecurity Awareness Month in October, as part of Imo’s commitment to building trust and promoting a secure platform for its global community.
Imo stated that artificial intelligence (AI) was instrumental in identifying and removing these accounts. Additionally, in the first quarter of this year, Imo addressed around 90,000 user-reported cases of harmful content that could negatively impact the community.
In its ongoing effort to enhance user safety, Imo has introduced several privacy and security features, including end-to-end encryption, two-step verification, passcodes, SIM card binding, screenshot blocking, and private chat and privacy mode.
