The Cyber Crime Awareness Foundation (CCA Foundation) and the National Committee on Cybersecurity Awareness (NCCA) have urged the interim government to prioritize the development of a skilled workforce in the country’s cybersecurity sector. This call was made in a press release issued on Sunday.
Earlier, on Saturday, the NCCA and the CCA Foundation jointly organized the country’s first-ever “Cyber Hackathon” competition on a dynamic platform, aimed at enhancing cybersecurity skills among young individuals. A total of 265 students from 99 educational institutions participated in the competition. The team from Dhaka University emerged as the winner in the final round, which took place from 10 AM to 4 PM on Saturday, with the results announced later that evening.
The winning team from Dhaka University comprised Tasnim Kabir Sadik, Abrar Faiyaz, and Mominul Islam Himel. The team from Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (Yusuf Abdullah Fahim, Farhana Mahbuba Marzia, and Sultana Jyoti) secured second place, while teams from Islamic University and Dhaka International University (Usmanur Rahman Biplob, Md. Momrul Hasan, and Samiul Qureshi Sourav) jointly secured third place.
The NCCA and the CCA Foundation stated that technical support for the event was provided by Cyber Bangla. They emphasized that there is a significant demand for skilled professionals in the country’s cybersecurity sector. The Cyber Hackathon was organized with this in mind. The organizers also called on public and private institutions to collaborate in producing skilled professionals who can not only meet domestic demand but also be exported to the global market.
