Officers from 25 Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) cadres, excluding the administration cadre, have launched a coordinated campaign to change their Facebook profile pictures, demanding the elimination of inter-cadre disparities.
According to a press release issued on Tuesday (October 15) by the Inter-Cadre Disparity Elimination Council, the campaign was initiated by uploading a specific logo representing their demands as Facebook profile pictures.
The campaign began at 3:00 PM on Tuesday and aims to raise awareness about key issues, including the establishment of ministry-based professional cadres (“each cadre to manage its respective ministry”), the abolition of the quota system for the post of Additional Secretary, and the implementation of an open competition based on merit for promotions. Additionally, they seek equality among all cadres.
The council has already presented their concerns to various advisors in several ministries, highlighting the significant disparities among different cadres within the Bangladesh Civil Service. They believe that civil service reforms are crucial for addressing these inequalities and ensuring overall national development and professionalism. The peaceful campaign is intended to draw the government’s attention to their demands.
