Mobile phone operator Grameenphone and mobile phone brand Nokia have provided with internet and digital literacy training to 23 lakh women in marginal areas of the country. The training is ongoing. This training (digital literacy) will continue throughout the rest of the year, informed the officials. The exclusive device partner of this campaign is the world-famous mobile phone brand Nokia.
This special campaign with the theme of ‘GP Internet is everyone’s world’ has resonated with the marginalized people. Grameenphone CEO Yasir Azman inaugurated this campaign in an informal ceremony recently. Campaign related officials of Grameenphone, Nokia and Salextra Limited were present in the event. The campaign is managed by Salextra Limited, the sole Bangladeshi distributor and manufacturer of Nokia Mobile.
The domestic company manufactures Nokia phones at Salextra Limited has its own factory in Tongi and country-wide market presence.
This campaign conducted at the union level across the country is providing training on digital literacy to the marginalized women of the country. Trained women are getting an idea about the importance of using internet properly. They can learn hands-on knowledge on the advantages and disadvantages of the Internet, its use in personal life, how to stay safe on the Internet. This training will enable them to become proficient in technology which will help them in every aspect of life from entrepreneurship. Grameenphone has so far provided digital literacy training to more than 23 lakh women in 17 districts through this campaign.
C32, C22 and C12-Pro models of Nokia smartphones are included in this campaign. In addition to offering these three models of Nokia smartphones at affordable prices, Grameenphone is offering a free data bundle (Internet) of 26 GB with an aim to further encourage internet usage.
