The students of various schools, colleges and madrasas are making every effort to protect the internal security of the country amid the ongoing strike called by the Bangladesh Police. The collective effort of these unarmed volunteers is making the best use of technology.
These volunteers are developing community helplines, alert notices using various social media and communicative apps. They are using drones to monitor thieves and robbers using GPS in trafficking. They are using various apps and tools through crowdsourcing. Notable among these is the real-time community protection platform ‘Protirodh’, the prevention. Dhaka University student and co-design team lead Fahim Murshed led the development of this real-time incident reporting and monitoring platform using GPS technology.
He said that the website is made in a very short time through hyper hackathon, so that it can be handed over to you as soon as possible. Relentless work is underway to add more features by Thursday night.
As the crime rate increases and the pressure on law enforcement forces increases, the role of the community in dealing with the situation is crucial.
