University administration has banned all kinds of political activities in Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET).
The ban is mentioned in an office order signed on Wednesday (August 7), by the University Registrar (Additional Duty) Professor Dr. Sheikh Mohammad Humayun Kabir.
The office order writes, It is for the information of all concerned of the University that as per the decision 136/1(d) of the 136th emergency meeting of the Syndicate held on August 7, the students and teachers/officials/employees of this University are prohibited from joining any kind of political organization and its activities.
Violators of this order will be penalized as per university rules.
Earlier, there was an incident of Chhatra League attack on ordinary students of CUET in the middle of last month amid the quota reform movement. In view of this incident, there is a demand to ban all kinds of political student organizations including Chhatra League in the university.
