Bangladesh National Information Service was launched last June to deliver various services of the government easily to the people with the help of digital technology. It is actually a web portal made up of 52 thousand websites. Besides this, there are 15 thousand government websites. On Monday, a cyber-attack was carried out to delete the information of the former government on these websites. After that attack, the websites started to come back after the pictures and profiles of the government ministers MPs were deleted from the websites. However, the Agency to Innovate (a2i), the authority that looks after the technical side of the government website, had no information about the domain being open till Tuesday evening. A2I’s website appeared to be completely down since Monday afternoon.
Login shows no error, but the site could not be accessed. In this regard, a2i Outreach Officer Adnan Faisal said that a lot of information on the front page was deleted in the cyber-attack. So, we have to fix them and it will be operational by Wednesday evening. Among more than 500 websites of various government institutions under National Framework, some websites of govt schools and colleges are currently closed. These will be updated gradually and reopen once after another.
Meanwhile, as there is no Prime Minister in the country now, the website of the Prime Minister’s Office has been shut down due to a Domain Name System (DNS) error.
Apart from this, the Bangladesh National Parliament website is not operational. The website is not showing up due to a DNS-related error.
