Natural gas extracted from Bhola is connected to the national grid

Intraco Refueling Limited has started supplying gas without pipelines for the first time in the country. Although there is no transmission line, this gas is now connected to the national grid. Basically ‘cascade’ method is being used in this case. A cascade is a high-pressure gas cylinder storage system consisting of many smaller cylinders. It is then refilled in cylinders with compressors and transported to other locations in trucks or barges converted to special loads.

On Thursday (December 21) at Hotel Sonargaon in the capital, this program of direct supply to industries in the distribution area of ​​Titas gas by converting the gas extracted from the island District Bhola to CNG (compressed natural gas) was inaugurated.

Speakers at the opening ceremony said that Bhola is an island district in the southern part of Bangladesh, which is surrounded by water. According to BAPEX, Bhola has huge potential gas field. Bhola’s Shahabazpur gas field has a daily production capacity of 140 million cubic feet of gas, which can be supplied for about 25 years. The gas reserves of BAPEX are 1.772 trillion cubic feet.

Nurul Amin, Secretary of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Chairman of Petrobangla Janendranath Sarkar and many others were present at the opening ceremony.

Regarding gas supply in the form of CNG, the Managing Director (MD) of Intraco Refueling Limited Riyad Ali said, “We have already completed successful trials. Official supply of gas supply started from Thursday. Graphics Textile Limited is the first customer to get gas.”

It may be noted that, an agreement was signed between Intraco and Sundarban Gas Company Limited (SGCL) on May 21 this year to supply gas extracted from Bhola in the form of CNG to industrial areas. Seven months after the agreement, the gas started coming to the industry.
