The country’s first smart employment fair was held at Pirganj of Rangpur on Sunday under the slogan ‘Employment of the Future’. In the fair, 450 freelancers trained by the ICT department showcased their experience and trained thousands of young people who are interested in making a career in ICT. 1000 freelancers are registered as freelancers. Entrepreneurs also shared their experiences. They think that each entrepreneur can create 10 entrepreneurs. Three people got immediate appointment from the fair. 10 laptops have been distributed among local freelancers. Grants have been received by women entrepreneurs. e-CAB Women Forum participated in the fair with 25 entrepreneurs. 22 national level organizations including Grameenphone, Chaldal and Codertast participated. A virtual mentor app was also introduced at the event.
While speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the fair, the Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad, Member of Parliament from Pirganj Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury said that ICT is the biggest sector behind the development of Bangladesh today. A silent revolution has taken place in the field of ICT. Currently, Bangladesh’s income from this sector is 1.5 billion. The craftsman behind it is Sajeeb Wazed Joy. As he is a child of this soil, it is a matter of pride for the people of Pirganj.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad requested to set up computer labs in schools in Peerganj which do not yet have computer labs. State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak announced the establishment of an IT training center in Pirganj while speaking as the special guest. He said, our goal is to create 1 million freelancers by 2025. Among these, all kinds of initiatives will be taken to create 3 thousand freelancers in Pirganj.
Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Dr. Chitra Lekha Nazneen presided over the program while the Director of Learning and Earning Development Project Humayun Kabir delivered the welcome speech. As a special guest, Nehal Bin Hasan, Chief Executive of BRAC Kumon Limited, announced the launch of the integrative education program to retain the attention and memory of the children of Pirganj.
Project Director of Sheikh Russell Digital Lab SAM Rafiqunnabi, Rangpur Superintendent of Police Md. Ferdous Ali Chowdhury, Upazila Secondary Teachers’ Association President Anwarul Islam Mannu, Upazila Chairman Alhajj Noor Mohammad Mandal, Municipal Mayor Abu Saleh Md. Azimul Islam and others spoke at the event. Local successful freelancers Noor Tazkia, Mehdi Hasan Shakeel, IT service successful Sultana Begum and Arifuzzaman Moon also presented their success stories. An open discussion was held in the middle of the program with the participation of local students, freelancers, parents. In the discussion, the locals highlighted their problems. The speaker gave an immediate solution to that problem.
