The government will undertake activities aimed at developing the capacity of backward communities of transgenders under digital technology. Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) will implement this program under the supervision of Information and Communication Technology Division. To that end, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by BCC with NGO organization Bandhu Social Welfare Society, Dhaka for the welfare of transgenders.
BCC Executive Director (Grade-1) Ranjit Kumar was present as the chief guest at the MoU signing ceremony held at the meeting room of BCC at the ICT Tower of Agargaon, Dhaka, on Monday, January 16, 2023. Meanwhile, the Executive Director of Bandhu Social Welfare Society Saleh Ahmed and other officials of the organization were present.
The heads of the two institutions agreed to involve the transgender community in the mainstream of development of the country by providing training in information technology and creating various job opportunities.
Addressing the chief guest at the event, Ranjit Kumar highlighted the need and importance of transgenders for a country and society. He expressed optimism that this program undertaken by BCC will play a supporting role towards the realization of the dream of the Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to build a smart Bangladesh by 2041 by building an inclusive society together with ‘no one left behind’.
BCC Director (Training and Development) Abu Saeed, BCC Secretary Mohammad Rashedul Islam and other officials were present on the occasion.
