After breaking the 36-year’s ‘drought’, Argentina finally made the World Cup its own. Lionel Messi is the master craftsman of Albiceleste’s dream come true.
The Argentine forward has finally been crowned the elusive world Champion. As a result, his arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo may have fallen behind in the ‘who is the best’ debate.
Messi broke another Portuguese winger’s record after winning the thrilling final against the French. But this record is not on the field, but on Instagram. The iconic photo of Messi holding the World Cup at Lucille Stadium has set a record in the list of most liked pictures on this social media.
According to Yeni Shafak’s report on Tuesday, “Champions of the World!!!!!!!!” Messi’s post with the title has garnered more than 49.8 million likes on the social media platform since it was posted on Sunday.
The photo shows Messi holding the World Cup trophy and celebrating Argentina’s glorious victory over (then defending champions) France.
Not only on the field, Messi left Ronaldo behind in a place outside the field. Of course, it is because of winning the World Cup. Argentina captain Messi has broken Ronaldo’s record for the most ‘likes’ on a particular post on Instagram among sports personalities.
Messi’s post beat Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo’s post. Earlier, Ronaldo’s post received almost 42 million likes on Instagram. This was the previous record.
Ronaldo participated in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. He posted the picture on November 19, a day before the start of the World Cup.
But still the most liked post on Instagram is an egg’s photo. A photo of a brown egg on a white background has garnered more than 56 million likes on Instagram. In early 2019, a user posted a photo of the egg. No film has yet broken the record of getting likes of that film.
Note that Messi has 40 million followers on Instagram.
