The a2i has started an innovative challenge competition for the OTT platform. NM Ziaul Alam, Senior Secretary, ICT Division inaugurated this challenge virtually on Sunday. While reminding that ‘media’ deeply affects public life, he emphasized adapting everyone to the existing changes. With new technologies and new challenges, today’s OTT platforms will become successful entrepreneurs, which may also be unicorns someday.
While speaking as the Chief Guest, the ICT Secretary called for the OTT platform to be aimed at the hearing impaired.
The a2i Policy Advisor Anir Chowdhury and Information and Broadcasting Ministry Secretary Humayun Kabir Khandkar spoke from New York in the opening ceremony chaired by a2i Project Director Dewan Mohammad Humayun.
In his speech, Anir Chowdhury commented that this innovation is a challenge as there is an opportunity for research and development. He said, along with the government, there will be content from private and development organizations, which will not only dominate entertainment and education. This will be integrated content. This content platform will be a new sector of the economy even if it is government-backed.
Information and Broadcasting Ministry Secretary Humayun Kabir Khandkar said that the OTT policy is in the final stage. Under the policy, Information and Broadcasting will look after the content and BTRC technical aspect of the OTT platform. However, due to the case of a media worker in the High Court, the final policy is taking some time to publish, the secretary said. At this time, he urged Humayun Kabir Khandkar to create content thinking about all people, inspired by the liberation war and patriotism.
Moderated by a2i HD Media Manager Purabi Matin, the organization’s Innovation Fund Expert Naeem Ashrafi made two presentations at the event. It is informed that the winners will receive crores of taka in this event to highlight the story of our country. Those, who are interested can submit their innovative content within one month from today. This unique Gov platform will be targeted at 13-40 year old audience. Where education, agriculture and technology will be given more importance. It will be the eduinfotainment platform. Every content will be verified through blockchain technology. Challenge applications will be accepted until January 17. A Bootcamp will be arranged a week after that. The workshop will be conducted during the application period itself.
