International University of Business, Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT), a private university in Bangladesh, has been recognized as a green campus in the ‘UI Greenmetric World University Ranking-2022’ by Indonesian university ‘Universitas Indonesia (UI). The university received this recognition for the fourth consecutive years. This information was informed in a press release of the company on Sunday (December 18).
It is said that according to ‘UI Greenmetric World Ranking-2022’, the position of the university is second in Bangladesh. And among 10 thousand 50 universities in 85 countries of the world, IUBAT’s position is 254th.
The Indonesian university ‘Universitas Indonesia (UI)’ publishes the list of the world’s best green campuses (universities) every year. On Thursday (December 15), the university’s website titled ‘UI Greenmetric World University Ranking-2022’ published a list of 1,500 universities in 85 countries.
The aim of this ranking is to reveal the current situation and results of reflections on green campus and sustainable development policies in universities around the world.
The ranking is published every year based on a total of six criteria. These are – infrastructure (15 per cent), energy and climate change (21 per cent), waste (18 per cent), water (10 per cent), transport (18 per cent) and education and research (18 per cent).
IUBAT scored 7245 on these criteria. Like last time, Wageningen University and Research in the Netherlands is in the first position with a score of 9300. UK’s Nottingham Trent University and University of Nottingham are joint second and third with a score of 9175.
It is to be noted that, the journey of IUBAT started in 1991. Dhaka University professor and former director of IBA educationist Dr. M Alimulla Mian is the founder of this university.
