Short video sharing platform TikTok plans to lay off its staff in Russia. RIA Novosti news agency reported this news with reference to the press office of the company.
Earlier this year, TikTok shut down several notable services for Russian users, reported Reuters.
In a statement, TikTok said, “This year we had to make a number of decisions regarding our operations in Russia, which are still ongoing.” Unfortunately, we have to reduce the number of workers in the country.
After the outbreak of war in Ukraine last February, Moscow began to strictly monitor social media. Based on this, China-based video app TikTok stopped live streaming and new uploads in the country.
