A seminar titled “Science and Technology to Combat Climate Change” was held at the National Museum of Science and Technology on Sunday. 45 trainees of the 38th ACEM course of the National Academy of Education Management (NAEM) participated in the seminar.
3The Deputy Director of the Museum AJM Salahuddin Nagri presided over the event.
While presenting the keynote at the seminar, Maqsuda Begum, Chief Display Officer of the National Science and Technology Museum, said, “Government officials have a role to play in meeting the challenges of climate change. Our existence today is threatened by the terrible negative effects of environmental degradation. Which, from individual to national level, no one should be left out, realizing its importance, with the help of science and technology and above all through awareness, a responsible role should be played at every stage of daily life. Since the science museum is working with students and young generation, this is an event to make them climate conscious.”
While speaking as the chief guest, NAEM Deputy Director (Training and Implementation) Md. Saiduzzaman said, “Environment and climate change is a global challenge. Currently, global warming caused by man-made greenhouse gas emissions is considered one of the causes of climate change. Not a particular region or population; people all over the world are facing the harmful effects of climate change. Addressing the threat of climate change will require a concerted effort by every country in the world. Deforestation should be stopped, plantation and afforestation should be increased. Man’s mistreatment of nature must be stopped.”
Suklan Bachar, Senior Curator of National Science and Technology Museum delivered the welcome address in the seminar.
Selina Khatun, Associate Professor, Department of Geography, Jashore Government Women’s College and AKM Samsuzzaman, Associate Professor, Department of Management, Anandmohan Government College, Mymensingh spoke among the trainees. After the program the trainees visited the galleries of the museum. Besides, the incoming trainees were given commemorative gifts by the science museum.
