‘Team Lazy-Go’ has won the third place in the future engineer category by participating from Bangladesh in ‘World Robot Olympiad 2022’, one of the most prestigious robotics competitions in the world. Bangladesh has also been ranked among the future innovators. The position of Bangladesh is now 8th in this list. India tops the list.
Iqbal Samin Prithul of Information and Communication Engineering Department of Bangladesh University of Professionals and Tausif Samin of Software Engineering Department of Islamic University of Technology won the WRO in the grand finale of the 24th edition held on Saturday in Dortmund, Germany.
They team was led by Redwan Ferdous as team leader and Maherul Azam Qureshi as deputy team leader.

In this category, China’s Firing In All Cylinder became the Champion and the Team Spark of the United States became second.
The rest of the top ten teams are: Malaysia’s I Robo Maker, Greece’s Every Pos, UAE’s Apollo, Spain’s GamaVersion and Romania’s Nordvana respectively.
China’s Pingpong Sinang won the Robo Sports category in the competition. And Malaysia’s UpUpCH Ten became the first runner-up and the second runner-up was Thailand’s Panzerobots.
8th place in top ten is taken by the Beatlet of Greece, 7th place is achieved by the IBM Rust of Saudi Arabia, 6th place is taken by Robomaker of Kazakhstan, 5th place by Boda of Hungary, and the 4th place is taken by the Shan Pon of Japan.
This is the first time that two teams represented Bangladesh in the World Robotics Olympiad. Out of them, the Lazy Go of Bangladesh won the third position in the future engineer category in this event with the participation of 73 countries. Their team mate ‘Robonium Bangladesh’ has placed in the eighth position as ‘innovators of the future’. The contestants of this team are Israfil Shaheen Aranya, a secondary examinee of Cantonment Public School and College, Rangpur and Mir Muhammad Abidul Haque, a ninth grade student of Manipur High School and College.
The next Robot World Cup will be held in Panama.
