The Aspire to Innovate (a2i) project has been awarded the WITSA Chairman Award for the ‘National Portal Framework’ project on the second day of the World Congress on Innovation and Technology (WCIT 2022) ‘WITSA Award Night’. Among 165 projects from around the world, a2i’s project won this award as the best project. The ‘National Portal Framework’ project is a unique global paradigm on digital governance.
On Wednesday, September 14, another project of a2i, ‘Covid-19 National Dashboard’, won the award in the Innovative Health Solutions Award category at the ‘WITSA Awards Night’ held at the Setia Spice Convention Center in Penang, Malaysia. The project won the award for its contribution to the country’s health sector using information technology.
At the WITSA Award Night ceremony, WITSA Chairman Yannis Siros, The National Tech Association of Malaysia (PICOM) Chairman Dr. Sin Siah, WITSA Regional Vice Chairman and BCS President Engineer Subrata Sarkar, Penang State Expo for Tourism and Creative Economy President Yeoh Soon Hin and other guests presented the award from the podium. The project director Dr. Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir accepted this award on behalf of a2i.
Total 52,000 office info and about a thousand digital services is the central point of this National Portal Framework. Various types of individuals and organizations have played a role in making the Tathya Batayan, including the BASIS. It received the United Nations ITU’s WSIS Award in 2015 for significant contributions to information and services and also received the UK-based international award named ‘The Presidents Award’ in 2017.
The World Innovation, Technology and Service Alliance (WITSA) organizes these awards every year. It is considered as a prestigious award in the global IT sector. Bangladesh Computer Society (BCS) is the only member of WITSA, the world organization of information technology sector in the country. Every year, BCS nominates various projects for this global award by WITSA that play a special role in information technology.
