The 11th annual conference of International Association of Police Academies – INTERPA held at a hotel in Dhaka. In the opening ceremony of this conference organized by the Police Staff College Bangladesh, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged the countries of the world to coordinate cooperation to prevent anti-humanity activities caused by cybercrime and organized multinational crime by joining virtually with new technology.
While addressing virtually from the Ganabhaban on Monday, the Prime Minister said digitization of police can be a great way to combat terrorism and money laundering as well as violent extremism and other technology-based crimes. Currently, due to these crimes, severe challenges have been created in the performance of police duties around the world. In today’s world, it is not possible for any country to deal with these alone. Therefore, there is no alternative to consolidate cooperation among the countries of the world to deal with these problems.
Sheikh Hasina said that global peace and security can be ensured by institutionalizing a demand-based and results-based platform to combat violent extremism and technology-based multinational crime. We believe that the collective will and joint efforts of INTERPA members can make a significant difference in world security.
The Prime Minister said that the main theme of this conference ‘Digitalization of Policing’ has really become timely. Violent extremism and transnational organized crime pose a major threat to national and international security in this era of globalization, where borders matter little.
127 delegates including heads of police training academies of 45 countries including Bangladesh participated in the three-day annual conference titled ‘Digitalization of Policing’.
