Posts and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar said Bangladesh-Japan relations are unparalleled. Bangabandhu laid the foundation for Bangladesh-Japan relations through his visit to Japan in 1973. The industrial revolution started from the western countries especially Europe-America. Japan has made us proud by contributing to the industrial revolution in the Asian region. The minister mentioned that we have a lot to learn from Japan, a true friend of Bangladesh.
The minister opined so while speaking as a special guest at the ceremony organized on the occasion of awarding the Order of the Rising Sun to Abdul Haque, the owner of Haque’s Bay Automobiles Limited, at the Intercontinental Hotel in Dhaka on Saturday night.
He mentioned that Abdul Haque has set an exemplary instance in playing a role in building a prosperous nation through the joint cooperation the government and the private sector. The Minister recalled with deep gratitude the role played by the then FBCCI leader Abdul Haque in withdrawing the VAT-tax from computers in the financial year 1998-99.
Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ito Naoki was present as the Chief Guest in the event.
Financial Advisor to the Prime Minister, Dr. Moshiur Rahman, former governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Atiur Rahman, FBCCI president Jasim Uddin, former president Abdul Awal Mintu and others spoke at the event.
Ambassador Naoki highlighted Bangabandhu’s visit to Japan in 1973 as a historic step in the development of relations between the two countries. He elaborated on the Japanese investment in Bangladesh, the establishment of Japanese EPZs at Araihajar in Bangladesh.
