Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications is ‘striving’ through BTRC to bring equality between telecom service providers in the country, said the Telecom Minister Mustafa Jabbar. This fight is to bring a competitive edge and provide quality services. Now we have created a favorable environment for Robi in this competition with the giants. Hopefully, they will use this environment.
Post and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar shared his views in the speech of the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the second meet of Datathon on Wednesday (August 17, 2022) at a hotel in the capital.
At the same time, the minister called upon the Telco’s to build sustainable highways by mentioning that ‘telecom will lead’ in the fourth industrial revolution. He also warned that no commercial organization will run in the future without artificial intelligence and urged the educational institutions to include this in curriculum.
He said, “Data can become more valuable than oil and gold. For this, there is a need for skilled data scientists and data engineers who can reach this level of data evaluation.”
Mustafa Jabbar further said, “Information technology has developed in America. After missing out on the Third Industrial Age, Bangladesh suddenly entered into industrialization. We will make Smart Bangladesh in 2041 on the path of digital transformation in the fourth industrial revolution. In the 1980s, when Malaysia made smart schools, many people called them crazy when they made the multimedia super corridor.”
Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury said, if we do not have data sovereignty, the development of Silicon Valley will not be ours. Hence, formulation of regulatory framework policy on data processing is the need of the hour. In order to build a technology-based human resource, it is now necessary to involve professionals in addition to government, industry and academia.
