State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that using technology as a powerful tool, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has transformed Bangladesh into a dignified, developing digital Bangladesh by bridging the gaps between rich and poor, male and female and rural and urban areas in just 13 years.
He remarked so on Monday, while addressing as the chief guest at the tri-annual conference 2022 of Bangladesh Jubo Mahila League, Singra Upazila and Municipal Branch. Explaining how the Prime Minister used the technology in his speech, Palak said that there are 12 unions and 1 municipality in Singra Upazila. Konika Rani Trishna is providing technology based municipal services as an entrepreneur. Shapla is running the Union Digital Center. This has been made possible by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina through establishing about 8,500 digital centers. These digital centers include 4,500 unions, 319 municipalities and 12 city corporations. It was made compulsory to appoint men as well as women in every union digital center, Girls today can easily become entrepreneurs. Now half of the 17,000 UDC workers are women. With the availability of internet, you no longer have to go to Dhaka or abroad in search of a job. With the launch of the Learning and Earning Project under the direction of Sajeeb Wazed Joy, now, the people can serve the markets of Europe or America using the power of the Internet from home. Technology and internet based employment has been created in the country. Today, there are six and a half lakh IT freelancers working in the country, of which 30 percent are women. Indomitable women are able to create self-employment by sitting in a wheelchair even.
