Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology, took part in the official sale of the sacrificial animals through buying a cow from Digital Cattle Haat (market). He bought a 150 kg gray cow from the ‘Ananda Mela’ of the market for Tk. 71,250. However, this time he has taken the partial payment facility of the newly added EkPay’s escrow service and paid the price. At that time 7125 Taka was paid for him with UCBL card.
The minister bought the cow during the inauguration of the online platform Digital Korbani Hat on Sunday afternoon. He requested to distribute it among the people of flood-hit areas of Sylhet through e-CAB’s humanitarian service project as usual.
Immediately after the minister bought the cow, 5,178 buyers and visitors flocked to the digital market.
Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim was present as the chief guest at the inaugural function. He said that this time 1 crore 21 lakh 24 thousand 389 animals are in stock. As a result, there is no doubt, crisis or apprehension for the sacrifice.
Rezaul Karim said, ‘Hygiene rules will be followed at Korbani market. Diseased animals will not be allowed to be sold at the market. Buyers and sellers will not be harassed or harmed. Adequate members will be appointed to maintain law and order, the minister said. He also said that there is no need to pay hasil for any sacrificial animal bought online and the market will continue even after the sacrifice.
Speaking on the occasion, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that four schemes have been implemented to restore confidence in e-commerce and Digital Business ID (DBID) has already been launched to build a stronger and more reliable e-commerce ecosystem. 1600 DBID registration applications have been submitted since last February. 400 registrations have been given. Hopefully, these 1600 registrations will be completed within the next one week. According to the second plan, it will be possible to launch the logistic tracking system by next November. A third Complaints Management Center has also been set up. It will be possible to inaugurate it soon if the Commerce Minister gives time. And as per the plan of ICT Adviser, Binimoy (Exchange) will be launched very soon to build a financial ecosystem free from harassment and corruption.
Tapan Kanti Ghosh, senior secretary at the commerce ministry, said the livestock business was involved in a large number of transactions. If this digital haat can be set up all year round, then marginal farmers and ranchers will have the opportunity to sell animals online all year round.
E-Cab President Shomi Kaiser said that e-CAB has successfully implemented Digital Haat as an online Qurbani haat in 2020 and 2021. Digital Haat has created a milestone by selling 27 thousand animals in 2020 and 3 lakh 87 thousand animals in 21 years. Last year, the Escrow facility was put up experimentally in the digital market. This time too it is there. This time too, marginal farmers have been connected to the digital market.
E-Cab General Secretary Abdul Wahed Tamal said, “This digital haat is being implemented 3 times in a row under the initiative of e-CAB. 4 government ministers have bought animals from this market. Such living creatures and such high-value universal digital platforms are very rare in the world. We hope the activities will be successful again.
