Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has conducted a workshop with its partners on strategies on how to meet the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution- 4IR. Officials from various levels of the BTRC attended the workshop on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at the Commission’s main conference room. In the workshop, the main article on what to do to address the challenges of the 4th Industrial Revolution was presented by Dr. Mohammad Mahfuzul Islam, Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology- BUET.
In his presentation, he gave an informative presentation on the evolution of the Industrial Revolution and the possibilities, challenges and tasks to be done in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He said all sectors of the industrial economy would be changed and expanded by utilizing the excellence of technology and Bangladesh would also have to make technological and infrastructural changes to keep pace with that revolution.
Shyam Sundar Sikder, Chairman (Senior Secretary) of BTRC was present as the keynote speaker at the workshop. Later, Brigadeer General Md. Nasim Pervez, DG, BTRC Systems and Services, discussed on the key note article and BTRC’s current position and things to do to tackle the challenges of the 4th Industrial Revolution.
In his presentation, he highlighted the various activities undertaken by BTRC to face the 4th Industrial Revolution. He emphasized the need for technological excellence and policy formulation in Bangladesh to adapt to future technology, build capacity and coordinate with the rest of the world.
At the end of the workshop, officials from different levels of the Commission exchanged views and asked questions on various aspects of the presentation.
BTRC Vice-Chairman Subrata Roy Maitra, Commissioner of Engineering and Operations Engineer Md. Mohiuddin Ahmed, Commissioner of Legal and Licensing Department Abu Syed Diljar Hossain and other directors general of the commission were present. The officials highly commended the Chairman of the Commission for organizing this workshop as the demand of the time.
