Internet Service Providers association of Bangladesh- ISPAB is providing necessary materials to the flood victims in 6 districts of the country. ISPAB Mymensingh branch committee members Md Wahid Murad, Ibrahim Mahdi and Ujjal Ahmed distributed relief through local union council chairman Rabbani Jabbar at Khaliajuri in Netrokona on Wednesday.
On the other side, the joint secretary general of ISPAB Md. Abdul Qayyum Rashed and director Md. Zakir Hossain distributed necessary items among the flood victims in Juri and Barolekha Upazilas under Moulavibazar district.
They distributed a total of 600 packets of relief in the two districts.
Meanwhile, ISPAB Secretary General Nazmul Karim Bhuiyan will distribute the gift items among the flood victims in Sylhet and Sunamganj districts on Thursday. After that, ISPAB will distribute a total of 1200 packets of relief gifts in Jamalpur and on June 4 in Kurigram.
ISPAB leaders are also working closely with the government to keep the broadband network operational for digital connectivity, which is isolated due to the flood situation. A total of 105 ISPs of different categories have been providing internet services in Sylhet, Sunamganj, Netrokona and other areas of Sylhet division. ISP operators currently have 375 Point of Presence (PoP) in those areas.
According to sources, most of the PoPs of NTTN operators (Bahan Ltd., Fiber at Home Ltd. and Summit Communications Ltd.) are currently in operation in Sylhet, Sunamganj and Netrokona. Although a few PoPs are currently inactive, the companies are continuing their all out efforts to activate them.
