In the future, a citizen can make a general diary (GD) by sitting at home with just three clicks without going to the police station. After a long wait, online GD is being launched in every police station across the country on Tuesday, June 21, 2022. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will virtually inaugurate the online GD program with the information of National Identity Card.
According to the police headquarters, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the activities of the Police Stations at the North and the South ends of the Padma Bridge. She simultaneously will inaugurate the handing over 120 houses constructed in the second phase of Bangladesh Police, modernization of police hospitals, 12 police hospitals, six women’s barracks and online GD activities from the Ganobhaban.
From Wednesday, GD can be submitted online by using the National Identity Card-NID number, mobile number and date of birth from the online GD’s site. Then a code will be sent to the mobile number via SMS to confirm the identity. With this code you have to choose whether to do GD for yourself or for others. You need to select the type of GD and what you have lost or found. Select the police station in which district you want to make a GD, enter the time and place of the incident and click on the ‘next step’ button.
The last step is to write a more detailed description of the applicant’s current address and events. If there are any documents related to GD, they can be attached. Enter the e-mail address.
After clicking on the ‘Submit’ button, the online GD will be completed. Once the application is completed, the applicant will be able to know the latest status of GD by logging in.
According to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Media and Public Relations Department, General Diary (GD) means general statement. Citizens lodges a GD with the nearest police station in the hope of police assistance on various issues including threats and recovery of lost items. Many of them do not know how to go to the police station to make a GD. In 2016, GD books were distributed in every police station of the country. In the meantime, the process of launching online GD continues.
It may be noted that, while in the Prime Minister’s Office, the DMP announced the launch of 2016 Online GD as part of the a2i project. It was said that if someone fails to go to the police station immediately, he can do GD online. GD can be done even from outside the country. Complaints can also be made directly to the police headquarters via fax and e-mail.
It is operating in Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Sutrapur, Kalabagan and Cantonment police stations and Mymensingh’s Sadar and Bhaluka police stations. Besides, the process of online GD has been started experimentally in nine police stations of Brahmanbaria.
Using the national identity card number, mobile number and date of birth, the experiment is being carried out experimentally in only three police stations of DMP, two police stations of Mymensingh and nine police stations of Brahmanbaria.
