YouTube is the most popular video sharing platform in the world. A variety of videos are uploaded to this platform owned by Google. However, at the end of the day, the responsibility of this video falls on YouTube. As a result, Google is facing huge fines.
An Australian court has ordered Google to pay $500,000 in damages. According to the court, Google has carried out propaganda against Australian politicians. Google will have to pay a fine for that.
The name of that Australian politician is John Barrelaro. He was the Deputy Prime Minister of South Wales. A YouTube user uploaded two videos to YouTube in 2020 attacking John. The two videos were uploaded by Jordan Shank. He is a comedian by profession. John alleges that he was defamed as a result of uploading the video. He filed a case against YouTube in the court.
According to the lawsuit, the two videos were viewed nearly 800,000 times on YouTube, earning the company a lot of dollars. John further complained that the manner in which the propaganda was conducted was a form of violent propaganda.
During the verdict in the case, the court said that John Barrelaro was defamed as a result of playing the two videos. YouTube has defamed without any evidence. In the video, Jordan questions politician John about being corrupt and his character honesty. As a result, John retired from politics prematurely.
