Mercantile Bank has come up with seven new EMV technology card services. Mercantile Bank’s new 7 debit, credit and prepaid cards feature the ability to transact without contact.
A press conference was held on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, in the boardroom of the bank’s head office to mark the bank’s 23rd founding anniversary. Meanwhile, Bank Chairman Morshed Alam MP inaugurated 7 new card services as the chief guest.
It was informed at the press conference that the bank has 3 Shariah-compliant debit and credit cards for Islamic banking customers. And for Conventional Banking customers, there are 4 credit and prepaid cards in the Signature, Platinum and Gold categories. Customers of MBL Taqwa Islami Credit Card will get first year insurance fee waiver. This Islamic credit card is interest free and customers of this card will enjoy minimum monthly maintenance costs, up to 45 days extra charge and attractive discounts at top hotels, restaurants and shopping malls. In addition, a new deposit scheme called ‘Taqwa Mudaraba Hajj Savings Scheme’ has been launched in Islamic banking services, through which customers can save a certain amount of money per month for performing Hajj according to Islamic Sharia.
Kamrul Islam Chowdhury, Managing Director and chief executive of the bank, highlighted the successes and limitations of the last year. At the same time, agriculture and SME sector will be given priority in disbursement of new loans and new branches and sub-branches and agent banking outlets will be set up to bring the marginalized people under banking services, he informed. He also promised to expand digital banking services to meet the needs of customers.
