Thailand has expressed interest in sharing experience and technology with Bangladesh in e-governance, cyber security and entrepreneurship development. This interest was expressed by the Digital Economy and Society Minister of Thailand Mr. Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn during a courtesy call on State Minister for ICT of Bangladesh Zunaid Ahmed Palak at his office here on Monday.
The meeting discussed mutual cooperation between the two countries on digital health, digital education, digital government, cyber security, startup ecosystem development, research and innovation.
Meanwhile, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak presented the vision of building a smart Bangladesh by 2041. He also highlighted the implementation of Digital Bangladesh 2021 vision. The Minister of Digital Economy and Society of Thailand also expressed interest in conducting uninterrupted government activities even during the ongoing pandemic in the EGRP and e-document medium, which is Bangladesh’s own design. Deputy Minister Mr. Newin Chochaiyathip and Adviser to the Minister Mr. Pranontha Titbhunno, who were present at the meeting, agreed to his interest.
On the other hand, Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that Bangladesh, like Thailand, will soon pass a data protection law on information sovereignty.
He also emphasized the need to create regional online social media and communication tools in the technology sector with the participation of BIMSTEC, an international organization of South Asian and Southeast Asian countries.
At the end of the meeting, Palak invited Mr. Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn, Minister for Digital Economy and Society of Thailand to visit Bangladesh to take part in the ‘Digital World’ to be held next December. During the visit, the Minister of State for ICT Bangladesh expressed his desire to take effective steps to increase the scope of regional cooperation in ICT.
