The “iDEA Portfolio Startups Lessons and Way Forward” workshop was held with 12 emerging startups among the grant-aided startups under the “Innovation and Entrepreneur Development Academy Establishment (iDEA) Project” under the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) of the Department of Information and Communication Technology. Travel Bangladesh, Dhaka Cast Limited, Moner Bandhu, Jahaji, Abedak, Poshapet, Mastadon Was, Bhumij, Biotech, Krishian, Idea 3D and Swadhin Music Limited took part in this phase.
The workshop was held on Wednesday (April 27) at the iDEA Project Office, located at ICT Tower, Agargaon, Dhaka. The participants of the workshop highlighted various issues related to the achievements, limitations, current state of the business, challenges, etc. of the startups.
The chief guest at the workshop was NM Zieaul Alam, Senior Secretary, Department of Information and Communication Technology.
He said Bangladesh is doing well in terms of technology. Many are now building startups using their talents and labor. He called upon the startups to contribute for the welfare of the country and the nation and said that Bangladesh is a country of immense potential. A concerted effort is needed to move this country forward.
Finally, he hopes that more than one unicorn will soon emerge from startups in Bangladesh.
BCC Executive Director (Grade-1) Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan was present as a special guest on the occasion. Project Director and Joint Secretary of iDEA Project Md. Altaf Hossain presided over the function.
iDEA Project Deputy Project Director and Deputy Secretary, Consultants and officials of iDEA Project including Md. Mizanur Rahman took part in this workshop. The event was hosted by Siddharth Goswami, Senior Consultant and Operations Specialist, iDEA Project.
Startups interested in any innovative IT-based idea should visit the pre-seed stage to apply for a grant of up to Tk10 lakh.
