Bangladesh has started working on space technology through research and development. A tripartite agreement was reached on Sunday to make various modules suitable for commercial space life. The agreement was signed between Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aerospace and Aviation University, Bridge to Bangladesh, Aspire to Innovation and Pico Satellite.
Registrar Air Commodore Mohammad Abdullah Al Mahboob signed the agreement on behalf of the country’s first space university at Lalmanirhat. Farooq Ahmed Jewel, Head of Technology, Innovation Lab, signed the agreement on behalf of a2i with research support. Sajedul Islam, vice-president of the company, signed the agreement on behalf of B2B. Professor Dr. Nazmul Ula has agreed to set up the Pico satellite lab. Under the agreement, these four organizations will build a space ecosystem in the country. The expectation of the contracting people is that one day the name of Bangladesh will be written in bright letters in the space age.
State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak was the chief guest at the signing ceremony. The managing director of Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited Dr. Shahjahan Mahmud, B2B Advisor Md. Asaduzzaman Nur were also connected in the signing ceremony.
While speaking as the chief guest, Zunaid Ahmed Palak highlighted the need to produce many more satellites from the country in the coming days.
“We need to launch many more satellites to increase agricultural production, urban planning, early flood detection and so on” he remarked. In that case, the MoU that we have signed today will surely increase our capacity to produce these Pico, including Observatory Satellite, Nano Satellite etc.
The state minister said the ICT department was playing a coordinating role in building an innovative ecosystem and entrepreneurial culture in Bangladesh by signing the agreement to build settlements on Mars and other satellites through the Pico Satellite Project.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak hopes that through this agreement, the talented youth of the country will be able to build and launch our own satellites. He assured all possible assistance to the authorities of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aerospace and Aviation University.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University Vice Chancellor Air Vice Marshal Mohammad Nazrul Islam presided over the signing ceremony held at La Meridian Hotel in the capital. a2i Policy Adviser Anir Chowdhury, Bridge to Bangladesh President Engineer Azadul Haque, among others, also spoke on the occasion.
Ariful Hasan Apu, the Founder of Bangladesh Innovation Forum was also present in the occasion.
