State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak has provided household silos to the locals to ensure safe food by announcing that no one will be left homeless in Singra.
Referring Bangabandhu, he said, initiatives have been taken to build a hunger-free Bangladesh. He further commented that, “When we used to ask voters to seek their support in elections, they used to mock us telling ‘Will you turn my broken house into a Pacca one?’ I was thinking that, Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina has not merely repaired the broken houses, rather made pacca houses to those who didn’t have not only a house, but also any place to stand on or a shed over their heads. She has made one hundred and one permanent houses for their families in our Singra alone. Today we also want to promise that not a single person in our Singra will be homeless InshaAllah.”
The state minister was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of distribution of family silos (matka) to 6,000 families at Singra Government Food Godown premises in Natore on Saturday (January 29).
Palak further said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is transforming villages into cities by eliminating all inequalities. All kinds of facilities of the city are being extended to the villages. Initiatives have been taken to provide safe food to the poor, backward, small ethnic groups and people living in disaster prone areas in different parts of the country under the project titled ‘Household Silo Supply’. This facility is also being provided in our municipality area on special request.
Apart from food items,Tk 2,500 has been given to the unemployed in Singra through mobile wallet. 1 crore 26 lakh 64 thousand 500 Taka has been distributed from different private funds for 12 unions. In all, the grant has been distributed to about 72-75 thousand families.
Singra Upazila Nirbahi Officer MM Samirul Islam presided over the function while District Food Controller Md. Harun-ur-Rashid, Singra Municipality Mayor Jannatul Ferdous and Upazila Awami League President Advocate Sheikh Ohidur Rahman among others spoke on the occasion.
